It's easy to think of Florida as a place where you go to find your inner child at Disney, find a really good beach or a really good Cuban dish at one of those great Cuban restaurants in Miami. Even though Florida has contributed significantly to its growth, country music isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Sunshine State. Country artist Eric Durrance wants to change that.

This self-taught talent is nothing less than a driving force determined to make it to the top the right way. He manages to effectively split his time between his Florida farm and his music in Nashville. Eric thinks this determination comes from his family support early on as well as his Southern upbringing. "I learned to play a little bit of everything. My stepfather was a drummer, guitarist, piano player and one heck of a singer, and my mom and grandfather taught me to sing harmony. My grandparents, who have been married for 53 years, are my 'oak tree'. They're strong and faithful individuals who taught me to be honest and follow my heart and they just love George Jones! So, I'm at home in country."

Like the most of us, Eric finds inspiration for his creativity not just from one source. He admires the harmonies exhibited by groups like Eagles and the way they constructed their songs. He also had a great deal of respect for country's musical masters like Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, as well as many, many others. Eric says, "I write music that comes from my heart. I like to write music that puts body and soul out there and has a magical way of saying what everyone feels. I like to be real and I believe a good, honest song is the key to an artist's success."

Eric's latest musical masterpiece, 'Angels Fly Away' is a great example of how to put a good group of songs together for an impressive CD. From the 'rockin' country' blend of, 'Someone I Can't Live Without' to the slower songs like the title track and the song, 'This Side of Sober', Eric hits the nail on the head when it comes to getting the right message through to you. One song that will hit many of us close to home, "Turn It Off'', will only take two seconds to have you wonder what you're doing still sitting in front of the computer when there's an active world outside your door. With that I think Eric's got a great career ahead if it's filled with music like this. But I am turning off the Mac and heading outside!
